Building in the Open

Issue #1 · April 5, 2026

There is a particular kind of restlessness that comes from using software that almost works. Tools that solve eighty percent of the problem and leave you to duct-tape the rest. We have spent years in that gap, improvising solutions, writing scripts, wiring things together with varying degrees of elegance.

Null is what happens when you stop patching and start building.

What we’re working on

We are a small studio making software for people who care about how their tools work. Not enterprise dashboards. Not platforms with pricing tiers. Just thoughtful, well-crafted tools that do their job without getting in the way.

Our first projects are still taking shape, but the throughline is simple: we build things we want to use ourselves.

Why a journal

Most companies start a blog to optimize for search engines. We are starting a journal because building in public keeps us honest. Every dispatch is a checkpoint — what changed, what we learned, what broke.

If you are the kind of person who reads changelogs for fun, you will probably enjoy this.

What comes next

More dispatches. More shipping. We will share the work as it happens, not after it has been polished into something unrecognizable.

Stay curious.
